Tai’an is the significant communication hub in East China and the highway and railway extend in all directions. Beijing-Shanghai Railway goes across the city and Beijing-Fuzhou & Beijing-Shanghai Expressway meet in Tai’an. Abundant Mineral Resources

Tai’an is abundant in mineral resources, and is an important base of energy and raw materials in Shandong Province. It has the characteristics of large reserves, high grade and wider distribution. More than 50 kinds of proved mineral resources such as coal, iron, copper, gold, alumina, quartzite, ophiolite, gypsum, rock salt, sylvine, natural sulphur, potassium feldspar, cement limestone, asbestos, granite, marble, pottery clay, fireclay, etc. with 50 billion tons of reserves. Among them, the coal reserves are 2,500 million tons; rock salt reserves are 7,500 million tons, occupying the first place in the whole country; gypsum reserves are 30,800 million tons, ranking first in Asia; the reserves of pure natural sulfur and sylvite are respectively 320 million tons and 9.44 million tons, which is exclusive in Shandong Province. The reserves of high-quality cement limestone are over 5 billion tons.

Abundant Human Resources
    Tai’an is one of the three major higher education centers of Shandong Province. At present, it has 5 colleges and universities of Shandong Agricultural University, Shandong University of Science & Technology, Tai Medical University, Tai University and Shandong Vocational College of Clothing Technology, and the students at school are nearly 100,000. There are about 35 high-and-medium-sized vocational technical universities and colleges with 80,000 students at school. The advanced, intermediate and elementary professional technical training system is perfected, having trained a large quantity of well-educated, high-quality and high-ability technological staff, who can meet the needs of different work or the work post.
